The Daughters of Hawaii have preserved and fostered Hawai’ian culture for over 100 years, caring for the palaces and grounds of the Hawai’ian royal family and hosting Hawai’ian heritage events most days of the year. They welcome you into two of the homes of the island’s kings and queens, Queen Emma Summer Palace and Hulihe’e Palace. The palaces are located near Oahu homes and commercial Oahu property inspired by Hawaii’s carefully preserved architectural heritage.
Queen Emma happily inherited her 19th century summer vacation home in the cool, forested mountains from her uncle to escape the summer heat. It’s now a beautiful public museum with classes on hula and ukelele, where many locals refine their skills. Hulihe‘e Palace is also an exquisite royal vacation home and museum. It hosts a h?lau hula cultural day once a month on the palace lawn.
Both palaces welcome visitors to tour their rooms and gardens – and attend classes, performances, local exhibitions and tea parties.
